Christmas Gift Ideas for Pianists in 2025

If you have a friend or family member who plays the piano, you might be wondering what kind of gifts you could get for them this Christmas. I want to share a list of ideas below that as a pianist I have greatly enjoyed and gotten much use out of. I hope that it can help you this season as you wrap up (no pun intended) your Christmas shopping this year!

Before we start... the links in this article are not affiliate links. Outside of links to my own sheet music on my website, I do not make anything off of sharing the products that I use or suggest. I just want to share these things with you in order to help provide gift ideas! Let's jump in!

For Digital Lovers

If you know someone who loves playing sheet music on their iPad/tablet, here are some things that they may find helpful! And if they do not yet use their tablet for music but they are interested in giving it a try, you could also help them get started with some of the option in the list below.

  • Digital Sheet Music
    • This first suggestion might seem to obvious, but a music lover can never have too much sheet music! If your friend or family member enjoys playing hymns, we offer over 150 arrangements in all difficulty levels (including many free songs), plus 15 digital books from intermediate to advanced. Most of our digital pieces are $2.50 each and when you purchase eight or more $2.50 songs, you can get them for just $1.00 each. If you are not sure what they will enjoy playing, we also offer gift certificates so that they can choose which songs they prefer. Plus, if they would like to perform the music or add some more excitement to their practice at home, we offer background tracks for some of our songs. You can find all of our digital sheet music here.
  • forScore
    • forScore is a music reader for Apple (iPad, Mac, iPhone, etc.) users. The pianist can add their digital sheet music to the app or even add physical music by simply taking pictures. forScore helps organize your music alphabetically, by difficulty level, by composer, and more. You can also take notes by drawing on the page and even attach background tracks to the sheet music. This is the app I use in my videos and for any performing I do. It makes a great gift for those starting to try using digital devices for their music!
  • Page Turner Pedal
    • A page turner pedal is a device allows the pianist to turn the pages on their tablet with just a tap of the foot. I personally use the Donner Bluetooth Page Turner Pedal (which is compatible with forScore), but there are other options available as well. Especially if they perform or play at church, this is a game changer that I highly recommend!
  • Studio Headphones
    • If your loved one enjoys playing on a keyboard, studio headphones make a great gift. A pair of good quality headphones will enhance the sound of the keyboard and also make it so they can concentrate on practice while other things are going on around them. I enjoy using the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Closed-back Studio Monitoring Headphones, but if you are looking for a less expensive pair, they also offer ATH-M30x's and ATH-M20x's that I have heard also have good reviews.

For Book Lovers

Not everyone prefers digital sheet music and other digital products for various reasons, so here are some ideas for those who still enjoy playing from books and using other physical products.

  • Print Music Books
    • New sheet music is an exciting gift to pianists who are serious about what they do and is also an encouragement to younger students to keep playing and have fun doing it! We have ten print books available on our website and we are currently running a sale where all the books (with the exception of Christ Our Hope) are only $5.00 each. We also offer FREE shipping within the USA on orders with a subtotal of $30 or more (the subtotal includes digital products also. The sale is continuing through December 31st, 2025 so that if you decide to get your loved one a gift certificate so they can choose their own music, they can still take advantage of the lowered prices. You can shop the sale here.
  • Metronome
    • Though some are frustrated by the constant ticking, if a pianist is working hard at their playing, a metronome is extremely helpful! I really enjoy having a traditional wind-up metronome (I have a Wittner) as they have a beautiful look, a more pleasing sound, and greater volume than digital metronomes. There are many different styles of metronomes available, including the traditional wind-up, pulsing wearables, and digital metronomes.
  • Binders or Bags
    • Carrying around many books or loose sheet music can be a lot of work when going from place to place, taking lessons, performing, or playing at church. A large tote bag and a folder or binder for loose songs can be extremely helpful in these cases!
  • Piano Bench Cushion
    • A piano bench cushion makes long practice sessions much easier, especially on hard, wooden benches. It can also be used for younger children who are learning and could use a little extra height on the bench to reach the keys with the correct posture.

For Advanced Students

  • Piano Lessons
    • For the more advanced pianist looking to expand on their present knowledge and learn something new to them, piano lessons are a perfect gift! For example, if you know someone who is interested in learning how to arrange, you could help pay for lessons with a teacher able to work with them on the subject. I took lessons from Josh Singletary and it was a huge help in my journey to learn how to arrange. If you know someone interested in this subject and would like to look further into lessons, you can reach out to Josh at linktr.ee/joshsingletary.
